ShellyLyons Announces Launch of Clear Point Communications
HARRISBURG February 20, 2023 – ShellyLyons Public Affairs & Communications is pleased to introduce a new name, a growing senior leadership team, and our expansion into western Pennsylvania.
The firm is now Clear Point Communications and colleagues Danielle Gross and John Neurohr have joined Pete Shelly and Charlie Lyons as partners.
“Pete and I are very excited that Dani and John are moving into new leadership roles as we continue to evolve and build on our deep experience and the extensive networks we have established over the years on behalf of our clients across the state,” Lyons said. “We want to thank our clients, our business partners, and our staff for making this possible.
Clear Point provides a range of strategic communications and advocacy services, including message development, media relations and earned media, digital and social media, and crisis communications.
Danielle Gross has been with the firm as Director of Communications since 2017. She is a regular political contributor to ABC27 and PCN. Before joining ShellyLyons, Danielle served as Director of Public Affairs with the PA Commission for Community Colleges for three years. Previously, Danielle was a communications professional at two Harrisburg public affairs firms, serving as a Senior Account Executive.
John Neurohr joined the firm in 2020 as Director of Client Services, having most recently served as the Communications Director at the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center. John has years of experience creating and executing strategic communications and outreach plans at the local, state, and national levels, including stints as National Communications Director for America Votes and ProgressNow and Strategic Communications Manager at the Center for American Progress.

“We know from experience that there is no such thing as a cookie cutter or one-size-fits-all strategy,” said Gross. “We work with clients from the outset to develop specific goals, compelling messages, and those tactics that make sense for each client’s goals.” Currently, Clear Point Communications provides communications guidance or managing advocacy campaigns in several sectors, including basic and higher education, transportation, gaming, mental/behavioral health, organized labor, election integrity, and clean energy development.
“Pennsylvania is a big, diverse state. A successful campaign hinges on understanding that constituents in Erie County often have an entirely different perspective than those in Elk or Lehigh County,” said Neurohr. “We have managed successful campaigns in just about every corner of the Commonwealth because we’re willing to listen, be adaptable and open-minded, and think outside the box on behalf of our clients.”
John and Clear Point Director of Digital Communications, Gina Pelusi, are both based in the Pittsburgh metro area.
Pete Shelly, who founded the precursor to ShellyLyons in 2007, said that Clear Point reflects the evolution of the firm and the digital world we operate in.
“Our firm has evolved over the years right along with the technology, from the dot.com era to the explosion of social and digital media. It is a crowded landscape out there and, now more than ever, clients need assistance to rise above the din,” Shelly said.
